DoctorWine’s Essential Guide to italian wine turns ten
PRESS RELEASE - This milestone will be celebrated with two events together with many leading figures in Italian wine production and the vast number of people who have always been following Daniele Cernilli and DOCTORWINE: in MILAN (September 30 and October 1 at the Principe di Savoia Hotel) and in ROME (October 8 at Spazio 900). These will also be an opportunity to present the latest DOCTORWINE product: the much-awaited APP that will finally be available to all wine lovers.
Rome, September 4, 2023 – It was on October 7, 2014 when Italian bookshops began to sell fresh-off-the-press copies of the neonate Essential Guide to Italian Wine, the first printed product produced by Daniele Cernilli and his team of collaborators, just a few years after the creation of the DOCTORWINE network and launch of the online magazine of the same name.
Today, the Essential Guide is one of the most authoritative publications on Italian wine, one of the most anticipated by a vast public of wine lovers, wine producers and an ever-increasing number of people responsible for restaurants and wine shops who find it to be an excellent tool to select wines for their lists.
“We are very happy to celebrate this wonderful milestone with all of those who have always appreciated our work and followed our path,” Cernilli said. “These past ten years have seen significant transformations in the communication and wine worlds and our guide has also evolved while remaining true to its core philosophy: being essential. The guide is not a list of thousands of estates but rather a selection of those that, in our opinion, are the best (1,254 in this edition) and that in the coming months will offer the market prestigious wines. What this means is that the fact of being selected to be among the over 1,000 chosen is an achievement in itself. It should be noted that the average quality of Italian wine production is constantly increasing and this makes the task of selecting the best increasingly difficult and, perhaps for this reason, always more useful.
The two anticipated happenings to present the Guide – which will have a new cover and internal graphics – will include an awards ceremony for producers who have made Italian wine history and who represent the future and, following this, a great tasting that will allow the public the possibility to taste the greatest wines from all Italy. During the event in Milan, it will also be possible to take part in masterclasses and seminars (the calendar for which will soon be available on our site).
The two events presenting the Essential Guide’s 10th edition will also be an opportunity to officially launch the DOCTORWINE APP, which from September 30 will be available worldwide, both in Italian and English and for both iOS and Android systems. Available free from Apple App Store and Google Play, the DOCTORWINE app will offer easy access anywhere to the content of the Essential Guide to Italian Wine and the Eating and Sleeping amid the Vineyards guide. It will be a proficient tool for not only many wine lovers but also wine estates who will find it to be a new, direct channel to communicate with their clients.
In both Milan and Rome, the entry fee for the wine tastings will include a free copy of the Essential Guide.
