Castello di Querceto in Chianti Classico view

Completely immersed in the verdant hills of Chianti, the castle stands amid vineyards and woods where it is possible to go for a stroll along oak- and chestnut-shaded pathways.

Castello di Querceto is in the north-eastern part of the Chianti Classico area, in a small valley which is part of the Municipality of Greve in Chianti. In 1897 Carlo François bought the property and transformed it from a country residence to a farm.

In 1911 was already the winner of an international oenological prize and in 1924 was part of the 33 founding wineries of the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium. In its cellar there are numerous antique bottles from the early 1900s.

The estate hosts ten apartments, some in the immediate vicinity of the medieval castle (access is via the old stone-paved courtyard also hosting the wineshop and cellar). The other apartments, nearby, were once an old farmhouse with barn known as Le Giuncaie.

The apartments are in the old Tuscan rustic style: the beams are bare and the floors are paved with terracotta tiles. The flats include a kitchenette, independent heating, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

The castle stands amid vineyards and the verdant hills of Chianti. Go for a stroll along oak- and chestnut-shaded pathways. The Tuscan summer heat often drives guests indoors, but there is also a swimming pool (14 by 6 metres) with chaise longue, sun beds and sunshades.

During your stay, it is possible to book a guided tour of the cellars and to taste and buy the farm products at the small wine shop.

Castello di Querceto is the ideal starting point for day trips not only in the Chianti Classico area itself but also to Tuscany’s splendid towns and cities, renowned for their artistic treasures: Florence (just 30 km away), Siena, San Gimignano and Arezzo.
