Masseria del Vino Ciavolich

Masseria del Vino is a carefully restored farmhouse of the 19th century, surrounded by the vineyards and olive groves of the Ciavolich farm.

The Masseria rises on the green hills of the Abruzzo hinterland, from which you can enjoy a majestic panorama, to the east the sea, to the west the mountain range of the Central Apennines, where the Gran Sasso d’Italia dominates.

Rustic but refined environments evoke an ancient and now lost lifestyle, where time has stopped, to give us a genuine freedom and the taste of tradition.

The building has 6 deluxe rooms obtained from the rural areas of the Masseria, proceeding with a careful restoration to enhance the ancient materials present: wood, stone and brick. The accommodations are furnished with a combination of period furniture and modern services, ensuring relaxation, charm and curiosity for the guest.

To complete the offer there are: a wellness area, with sauna and tub and a secret garden with Jacuzzi tubs, immersed in the natural beauty of Mediterranean vegetation. In the autumn months, large fireplaces heat the common rooms where guests can relax while sipping a glass of wine from the Ciavolich Winery.

The Agricultural Breakfast, traditionally one of the most important meals of the day, offers genuine local products.  From sweet to savory, a range of aromas and delicious dishes made in the Masseria. Breakfast is served in a rustic room or in warm days on the panoramic terrace.

Cultural Tasting

In Masseria they offer guests a cultural tasting.

The visit begins with a real immersion in the vineyard. Walking through the vineyards, guests discover why Loreto Aprutino is considered a terroir of excellence all over the world. They show the difference between the two cultivation systems: the Abruzzo pergola and the Cordon Guyot.

The tour continues in the three cellars: steel, wood and concrete, terracotta, where it is possible to understand the different company wines and the production philosophy.

During the visit, the guest listens to the story of the Ciavolich family, originally from Bulgaria, which arrived in Abruzzo in 1500 and in 1853 began the production of wine in Miglianico, in the ancient cellar, which can still be visited today. In 1960 the production moved to Loreto Aprutino, in the lands inherited from the noblewoman Ernestina Vicini, wife of Giuseppe Ciavolich. Here today, Chiara Ciavolich, from canopies of the 60s and younger rows, produces wines from native vines that respect the territory.

In the Bottiglieria you can then taste 4 selected labels paired with Niko Romito's bread based on Solina and Saragolla flours and tastings of the Abruzzo dairy excellences of Gregorio Rotolo of Scanno, Del Proposto of Loreto Aprutino and Martinelli of Farindola.
