Possessioni Masi - Serego Alighieri

Masi offers two possibilities for a complete Wine Experience: Tenuta Canova in Lazise del Garda and Possessioni di Serego Alighieri in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella.

Masi has been awarded the Best of Wine Tourism prize for its hospitality activities, thus entering the worldwide network of Great Wine Capitals. Let us see which structures contributed to winning this prestigious award. There are two, Tenuta Canova on Lake Garda and Possessioni di Serego Alighieri in Valpolicella.

The hills covered by green vineyards and silvery olive trees, the red of the earth, the blue sky sprinkled with the white of the clouds pushed by the breeze of Lake Garda: this is the color palette that fascinates the visitor of Tenuta Canova, a place that lovers of wine and good food identify as 'home'. Besides the vast vineyards and the organic olive grove, the estate also includes the traditional fruttaio, where grapes are dried before being pressed; the cellar where the famous Campofiorin (produced for the first time in 1964) is aged; the Masi Wine Discovery Museum, which with multimedia tools shows the secrets of a work in balance between man and nature, technique and tradition, in which even those entering the world of wine for the first time will feel involved. Lastly, the welcoming Wine Bar Vino e Cucina.

Not far, the rustic houses wisely restored in a contemporary style, that still show the history that has passed through these rooms, perfect for hosting the wine shop with over fifty labels showcasing the winery’s different terroirs. These wines have to be savored in the Wine Bar 'Wine and Cuisine' paired with a dynamic and everchanging menu that features local delicacies, as the exploration of the flavors of wine and food is a journey that knows no end. In the summer, conviviality is to be experienced entirely outdoors, choosing between the bright veranda, the cool stalls or the olive grove to return to enjoy those little pleasures that make us "feel human": the attention reserved for guests, a glass of good wine and a meal prepared with care.

Moving to Valpolicella, an enchanting estate nestled in the hills purchased by Pietro Alighieri, son of Dante, in 1353, has always been known for the excellence of its vineyards. Pietro, judge in Verona, decided to reside in Valpolicella given the need to control and manage the agricultural production. At first, the house was more of a large farmhouse than a villa, but from the mid-16th century it was gradually transformed into today’s magnificent home, where the descendants of the poet still reside, now in their twenty-first generation. Cherry wood barrels are still used in the cellars, along with the more common oak barrels, reflecting an old tradition that is still appreciated today for the exquisite aromas that gives to the wine. We are at Possessioni di Serego Alighieri, today managed by Masi.

The entire range of Serego Alighieri wines, including the famous Amarone Vaio Armaron, can be found at the Rivendita, as soon as you cross the large gate. In addition to visiting the cellar and the historic “drying cellar”, guests are delighted to participate in tastings and discover how best to combine typical cuisine with wine in the Cooking School

Immersed in the quiet of a noble country residence, the Foresteria hosts elegant rooms where to stay sheltered from the noises of the world and bright rooms for events, where the family wines are paired with local cuisine to enhance their flavors. You can indulge in walks in the park of the Villa, with its sheltered corners, discovering the most secluded areas and the majestic trees.
