Montelio, hospitality in Oltrepò

Six apartments in the nineteenth-century houses of farm laborers to enjoy the rural atmosphere of the Oltrepò Pavese.

The Montelio estate is located on the gentle hills of the western Oltrepò Pavese. In the 13th century, the land and buildings formed the grange of a Benedictine monastery, purchased on 17 Fiorile 1803 (that is 7 May) by the ancestors of the current owners. Caterina and Giovanna Brazzoli, sisters, represent the seventh generation of the family that more than one century and a half ago - when the area was under the control of Napoleonic France - founded this famous winery.

Montelio (the hill of the sun) is the eight hundredth Cafè House, a hexagonal lookout on 30 hectares of vineyards. The company has been dedicated to wine tourism for over 30 years, welcoming visitors from all over the world and since 2017 it has joined the F.I.V.I Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers. 

Inside one of the winery’s courtyards, they have restored, respecting the pre-existing architectural elements, six apartments. All of them feature a kitchen and are all furnished with the elegant simplicity of the Lombard countryside. 

From each apartment, it is possible to reach the vineyards to enjoy a walk in the tranquillity of nature and continue with the visit to the cellars led by a family member, to end with the tasting of wines paired with local products in the welcoming tasting room in the ancient wine cellar.

The area is rich in naturalistic, historical, cultural, and gastronomic routes of every degree of difficulty and duration for excursions on foot, by bicycle or by car.
