The magical silence of Regaleali

Staying at the Tasca d'Almerita family's Regaleali is an exploration of a slice of paradise, in the center of Sicily, among lakes and hills of wheat and olive trees, where wine has been made for two hundred years.
Count Tasca d’Almerita opens the doors of the house: the historic Regaleali countryside dating back to 1830, true family values, cuisine and flavors; and then space and silence, the true luxury of today.
Here, the Tasca family unveils the truth of their wine, letting you discover how they raise the vines, how they harvest the grapes and how they turn them into wine. They guide you through technical tastings to find out which wine you like best and listen together to the story that each wine has to tell. Wines from the five estates, from the bubbly to white, from reds to dessert wines, from the most recent to the oldest vintages.
In the Estate are cultivated ancient grains for the production of bread and pasta; honey and extra virgin olive oil are produced, in order to prepare ancient recipes. Moreover, there are the bounty of their land, grown in the vegetable garden season after season, and just picked.
To really understand Regaleali you must experience it. Only the Tasca family can describe this land as it breathes with the cycles of nature and leads the guest by the hand on a journey through grapevine rows full of fruit, cultivated fields, wine and honest food. Each encounter is an opportunity for exchange and comparison, and serves as an experience involving all of the senses. One can explore this slice of paradise by staying at Regaleali, in the center of Sicily, among lakes and hills, wheat fields and olive trees, where wine has been made for two hundred years and constant experimentation has taught to look at the future through the wine glass.
The central courtyard at Case Grandi gathers together the rooms all around the great central magnolia tree, like a big hug. This tree has been the first welcome for guests for generations.
At Case Grandi the flavors from the vegetable garden are the best guides in understanding the tradition of a cuisine built on never-forgotten ancient recipes, thanks to the memory and knowledge of home cooks who continue to respect the ancient “monsù”, the historic chefs of Sicilian aristocratic families, as well as the recipes of today.
At Case Vecchie, instead, the Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking School retraces this tradition, explaining and telling the story in cooking classes.
At the estate, you can hike among the vineyards, take bike rides, follow a cooking class, sip a glass of wine. Or you can follow the work in the fields, or simply relax, surrounded by the welcome silence of nature, observing as it changes with the passing of the hours.
