Mark the dates: Wines for all pockets 2024 (Wines for all pockets 2024) is being released and is being presented on Sunday, November 19 in Rome and Monday, November 27 in Milan.

We have reached the fourth edition of the small volume Wines for all pockets, which we publish now every year pointing out those wines that have an average price in wine shops not exceeding 15 euros. Obviously this is a selection among thousands of wines tasted especially for The Essential Guide to the Italian Wine 2024, but without the pretension of completeness. However, we are certain that every single wine reported is of excellent quality in its genre and worth trying and getting to know. They are produced in all regions of Italy, proving that ours is truly the country of wine, especially in the price range we are considering.

Not all of these wines are featured in the "mother" guide, many are reported only here to the delight of the many readers who want to drink well without having to do too much math. Our intention is to show that to drink properly it is not always necessary to spend considerable sums of money and that, especially in Italy, it is still possible to find many excellent wines offered on the shelves of wine shops at reasonable prices. After all, it is a type of selection that we make almost daily as well, since none of the contributors to DoctorWine or those who write to you have such resources that they can pay no attention to the cost of the wines they buy.

In all likelihood, many others would have deserved to appear in this publication; in Italy there are tens of thousands of producers and perhaps more than a hundred thousand labels, so choices must be made from the very moment in which wineries and bottles are considered. We have tried on the basis of decades of experience that many of our contributors have in their respective regions.

The end result seems interesting, moreover. The regional distribution of wines is a little different from that of the general guide, with a somewhat larger presence of products from southern Italy and of perhaps lesser-known areas quite evident, all of which make this book rather original compared to what one reads in the national wine literature. Another element that could be interesting is the presence of wineries that are perhaps not very well known and that for this very reason offer their wines at lower costs. It all adds up to a different, hopefully useful and interesting point of view to focus on a topic that has always been close to our hearts.

This year to present the small guidebook (soon for pre-sale on our shop) to wine lovers, operators and the press we will make two presentations: the first in Rome, at Trimani Wine Bar, Sunday, November 19 (h. 15:30-19:30), the second in Milan, at the Principe di Savoia hotel, Monday, November 27 (h. 15:30-19:30).

Attending the tastings, where each producer will present the wine we have selected in this guide plus two others of his or her choice, and leafing through the pages of this booklet you will find plenty of suggestions for satisfying, intriguing and often unknown drinking, ranging mainly within the sphere of wines made from local grapes, typical of the different regions, but with some encroachment even among international grape varieties. In short, there is something for all tastes and budgets, all you need to do is attend one of the two tasting booths and delve into the reading.
