The weather was quite similar to 1991: a cool and breezy summer with a drop in temperature in mid-September and harvest taking place October 4-5. The real difference had to do with a change in the wood barrels used for aging and the period of aging, from 350-liter barrels for 17 months to 300-liter Allier barrels for 12 months. The wine has a compact and intact garnet color, while the impact of the aroma is rich in sweet spice, then menthol, pryazine, underbrush and graphite, all quite severe and very intense. The flavor is a synthesis and summary of the previous vintages: pungency and pleasing freshness, expressive menthol and cedar note. Its persistent minerality extends to a nice finish with incredibly resolved tannins.
