The cork was very hard, almost wood-like, and it was not easy to open the bottle but well worth the trouble. After 130 years in the bottle, the intensity and integrity of the aroma was frightening. The wine had a dark, amber color and an amazing bouquet with a lot of garrigue and roots, shag tobacco and walnut infusion. The balsamic component is fascinating, almost an infusion of medicinal herbs. The mouthfeel is rounded with infinite energy and very warm and silky. It was all so moving that it is difficult to fully explain. Port, like the Hungarian Ecsentia, are truly the wines with the longest life on the planet.
