The vineyards of Ischia, between the sky and the sea: Tommasone Vini

Grapes from 11 vineyard parcels spread throughout the island of Ischia produce excellent wines like Biancolella Tenuta dei Preti.
The Tommasone winery is a lovely family affair of five generations of winemakers on the island of Ischia. A hundred years ago, the Monti family produced wine for personal consumption that was so good that even friends living away from the island asked to be supplied.
Traditional wine production was interrupted during the 1980s and only resumed 20 years later thanks to Antonio Monti, who brought the vineyards back to life with the help of agronomist Pierpaolo Sirch. The first official vintage was 2004.
The winegrowing and winemaking operations are now in the hands of Lucia Monti, an enologist and the proprietor of the Tommasone winery that produces four wines from 13 hectares of vineyards spread out in 11 beautiful parcels.
