La leggiadria del Cerasuolo di Vittoria 2015 Gulfi

Fragrance, accessibility and a fantastic fruitiness distinguish this lovely blend of Frappato and Nero d’Avola from Gulfi, Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 2015.

One of the most common and intriguing clichés in the wine world is that wines from certain areas are not only the products of the weather, geology and landscape (something everyone can agree with) but they are also a metaphor of the zone’s anthropological characteristics. It thus follows that German Riesling wines are as imposing as gothic cathedrals and Bordeaux wines are as ‘bourgeois’ as that city is. This theory, however, falls apart when it comes to the southernmost point of Sicily.

Vittoria, Noto and Ragusa are totally and heavily Baroque and yet the wines from there are fragrant and accessible. Althoughe Cersasuolo di Vittoria has grown under the shadow if the merited success of Etna wines, its improvement has been constant and without any anxiety or pressure. Today there are at least four or five outstanding producers and Gulfi is certainly one of them.
