Arillo in Terrabianca, the Tuscan theorem

The project of this winery is based on the "Tuscan Theorem," which is a triangle made up of three territories that ideally represent enological Tuscany: Chianti Classico, Maremma and Val d'Orcia.
The winery has long been present in the Italian market; recently the acquisition of the Burkard family, Italian-Swiss entrepreneurs, has given an important impetus toward qualitative improvement as well as expansion, not only in wine production. In addition to the two already productive wine-growing parts, Chianti Classico with Arillo in Terrabianca and Maremma with Tenuta Il Tesoro, the property has moved to Pienza with Tenuta Colle Brezza, where we find a small vineyard (the first harvest is in 2020) but mostly cereals and a high-quality reception will be set up.
At a recent lunch in Florence, at the "legendary" Osteria da Burde, we had the opportunity to taste all of Arillo's production as well as be educated about the company's future developments. The skillful direction of brothers Paolo and Andrea Gori, the former at the stove and the latter in the dining room, created a beautiful convivial atmosphere where along with the Tuscan tradition on the plate (spacey livers, a fantastic ribollita) we found a sense of the territories represented by the wines.
The three Maremma wines, a white, a rosé and a red, are set up for modern drinking with good aromas, great drinkability and pleasantness: of the three we appreciated the white as the best interpreter of the goals sought, although the rosé also has its say.
Change of pace on Chianti Classico wines with a decisive stylistic maturity and an evident productive coherence. During lunch we were particularly impressed by the versatility of the Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Croce 2021, but praise also goes to the Gran Selezione Terrabianca 2019. Also very pleasant was the Chianti Classico Sacello 2021, a perfect companion for the daily table.
Then what about the two Campaccio supertuscans, where the "master of the house," Sangiovese, is joined by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot? Especially the Campaccio Collezione 2019, an elite wine from the lands of Maremma.
