Pergolaia Caiarossa, a Tuscany-French from the Coast
The Tuscany Coast is an area that gives surprises thanks as well to the use of international varieties but in this case the main variety is Sangiovese.
The estate is Val di Cecina, on the Tuscan Coast, and has a very interesting soil rich in iron. It was founded in 1998 and since 2004 has belonged to the Dutchman Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also owns Château Giscours and Château du Tertre, in France, two gran crus classé in Margaux, Bordeaux. Thus you can say he has wine in his blood. The style of production, ça va sans dire, is decidedly Bordeaux-esque and only barrique are used.
