When Nero d’Avola…
Duca di Salaparuta, which owns the famous marque Corvo, was the first Sicilia winemaker, starting in 1984, to use the classic island grape Nero d’Avola to make a prime wine. It was called Duca Enrico and here we look at three vintages – 2008, 1997 and 1987, each from a different decade – that exemplify one of southern Italy’s greatest red wines. All are 100% Nero d’Avola aged in barriques.
