The reliability of the Lilith restaurant at the Masseria Copertini

Lilith is a wonderful restaurant is family-run with a cuisine that is born in the garden and at the local market and is situated at the Masseria Copertini farm in the Salento area of Puglia.

Vernole is just a few minutes from the city of Lecce, on the road leading to the beautiful beaches of San Foca, in the open countryside. This is evident in the menu where most of the dishes are those of the land although there are also some exquisite seafood ones.

This is an easy place to understand: everything is done by the Tramis family, starting with the grandmother, the (cook) mother, father, two young daughters and Matteo, the boyfriend of one of the latter who although young has racked up some solid experience. Each one of them has their own sphere of influence and every day the menu is the authentic child of the surrounding gardens, the local market and the daily catch.  I have been there dozens of times and even if there was a printed menu, I always let them decide what I should have and have never been disappointed.

The food is a jubilation of vegetables, oils, cheeses, meats, fish and pasta that is home-made as are all the sweet, jams and foods preserved in oil. Everything is done in a traditional way but with a pinch of innovation that certainly never hurts.

In the summer, you can eat in the lovely and cool garden and they have a few rooms for those interested in using the farm as a base for a holiday in Salento.

The excellent wine list offers the best Puglia wines as well as some good ones from outside the region. The prices are more than reasonable and the place is tasteful, very reliable and hospitable.
