This was the last vintage in which the Chardonnay was vinified in wood (20% of the total blend). The weather was perfect through July and then in August it became very hot. This meant the fruit was bolder than in other years but without becoming exotic, since as always the wine is impeccably reserved. The mineral component has a pleasing marine note. The finish is subtle, modulated and very persistent.
