A white whisper from the heart of Italy (2): Orvieto
Yesterday we published an engaging and instructive chat with Enzo Barbi, the young descendent of the family that some 40 years ago acquired the Decugnano estate, one of the leading wineries in Orvieto. Today we review his wines.
The estate produces two versions of Orvieto white, Villa Barbi, which has a little Sauvignon in the blend, and Decugnano Bianco, made with the best grapes. Our attention here is focused on the latter, a blend of mostly Grechetto and Trebbiano with small additions of Vermentino and Chardonnay.
