    A historic version: the first outstanding Faro Palari, the result of a better-balanced year. The colour is a brilliant and intense garnet. The bouquet displays extraordinary complexity, with the classic smoky and spicy notes and hints of blackcurrants, leather and tobacco in the background. The attack on the palate is extremely elegant, with the tannic and acid components seemingly hypnotized by a sensual, mouth-filling glyceric softness that makes the taste well-balanced and almost aristocratic. A great Mediterranean wine, which held its own in a comparative tasting with the majestic Hermitage of Jean-Louis Chave from the same vintage. The warm finish is of excellent length.
