This is very fine indeed, even if slightly lean in style. Besides, it comes from a cool year, even though it wasn’t as cold as elsewhere in Italy. This is the other face of Faro Palari – all freshness and elegance – and perhaps the only vintage that could prove those people right who, often incorrectly, liken it to a Burgundy. Its garnet hue is lively and brilliant, but only of medium depth. It has a complex nose, with notes of blood oranges, redcurrants, fraises des bois and spices and a gutsy flavour, controlled by a very fresh and appealing acidity that runs right through the taste, making the wine very easy to drink. Its body is not enormous, but it is supple, elegant and aristocratic. The finish is long and fine.
