La Luna e i Falò 2006

The rainfall in September was not excessive but enough to dilute the qualities of the grapes. However, the low yield due to less fruit setting, caused by cool temperatures in June, ensured that the Barbera grapes reached a nice level of maturity. The color is a ruby leaning towards garnet, while the bouquet it complete with ripe fruit, marasca cherry, blueberry jam and spices. In the flavor the fruit shifts more towards mature notes of dried prune and cinnamon. The finish is unexpectedly acidic but the nervous streak of Barbera is ever-present.
