Fabbrica della Birra Perugia is the 2016 Brewery of the Year

We have more than once written about Birra Perugia, its recent history and how this old brand, dating back to 1875, was brought back to life thanks to three friends who became partners thanks to their love and passion for beer. This beer-making enterprise in Umbria has in little time carved out a significant place for itself among Italy’s leading breweries. Everything is done there not only to create a top-quality product but also to correctly interpret styles in order to obtain a perfect market position with brews that can satisfy different targets whether they are in pubs, restaurants or wine bars.

Thus it came as no surprise, even if it was exciting, to learn that the judges at Unionbirrai decided to name Fabbrica della Birra Perugia as their Brewery of the Year 2016. This important recognition came some three years since this exceptional dream team brewed their first batch. The team is composed of Antonio Boco, a well-known wine journalist and the main mastermind behind the project; Matteo Natalini, who mastered marketing and sales at his family’s business; and Luana Meola, a passionate and talented brewer as demonstrated by the beers she has created. Working with Luana have been, first, Mauro Fanari, who was in charge of the initial phases of production, and later and still today Luca Mestrini, both great and professional brewers.

The whole staff at DoctorWine congratulates them all on this achievement and today, more than ever, reiterate their slogan of “Drink to remember” because certain accomplishments are difficult to forget.
